'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from distance, and his teammate immediately slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an extraordinary recovery given the team had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the second half. In the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with a teammate's first-time shot from about way out going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they always find their target and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for his team and nation, performing well for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been an incredible journey for the player from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a extended travel and it was chilly," he comments, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I got to the stage where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the transport team, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm planning to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would blend in with fans on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
